I’m Leo

I've been on the tools for over 20 years, finishing everything from house slabs to commercial jobs around Perth.

I still run Leo's Concrete Works, so I'm on pours every week.

A finishing course can teach you the basics. Out on a slab it's different.

Perth heat, the sea breeze, a mix that goes off faster than you planned.

Most finishing comes down to timing, and you learn timing on real concrete with someone next to you who's done it thousands of times.

That's what I teach. No classroom. Real pours, and straight feedback on what you're doing.

Want Group Coaching?

Learn with a small group of no more than three concreters. Hands on finishing skills, practice, and watching each other's work. I spend up to a maximum of 4 hours with you on your pour, coaching you on the skills required to be a concrete finisher.

What We Cover

Reading the slab: when to get on with the trowel machine and when to wait.

When to pitch the blades.

Hand trowelling and edging.

Screeding with a straight edge, including house slabs.

Smooth finish with a hand trowel for garage slabs (if applicable).

Finishing in Perth heat and wind.

Common faults and how to stop them: knowing when to hit the concrete with the trowel machine, taking the boards off too early, and using the hand trowel around the edges of the slab.
